It was so windy today that I was sure the sea was rough. Usually I don’t go fishing with this strong wind, but this morning I managed to finish one tough job and I felt like congratulating myself. So I drove to Etomo Harbor this evening. Just as I feared, the wind was strong and the waves were high. Some spots from which you can narrowly cast lures were occupied. I drove to Tayu, a small and beautiful harbor to the east of Etomo, but no spot was available. Then, I drove to Kurauchi Bay between Tayu and Kataku. There was one fisherman on the tip of a rock. Avoiding the high waves, he was casting lures. I walked down to another rock. The sea was very rough. I thought maybe I would catch a nice Japanese sea bass because they like white churning water like that. I fished for about one hour until sunset, but I didn’t catch any fish.
（今日は風がとても強かったので、海はきっと荒れているに違いないのでした。ふだんなら、これだけ風が強い日には釣りには行きませんが、今朝、厄介な仕事をひとつ片付けた私は、自分自身を祝福したい気分でした。ですので今夕、恵曇港に行ったのです。恐れていた通り、風が強く波も高いのでした。ルアーを何とか投げられる場所は既に埋まっています。私は、恵曇の東にある小さな美しい港、手結に移動しました。どの場所も埋まっていました。続いて、手結と片句の間にある倉内湾に行きました。岩の端っこに一人の釣り人がいます。高波を避けながら、彼はルアーを投げています。私は別の岩に降りて行きました。海はとても荒れています。良い型のスズキが釣れるかもしれないと思いました。スズキは、このように激しくかき混ぜられた白い水が大好きなのです。日没までの１時間ほど釣りをしましたが、何も釣れなかったのでした。）
