(No. 150) U.S.-Japan Lure Battle Again (日米ルアー決戦再び)

There was a fierce battle between Japanese and American lures at this time of last year. Some branches of Kameya, one of major chains of fishing tackle, jointly held an event called “Sea Bass Party”, which was an one-night fishing contest where lure fishermen competed against each other in length of each Japanese sea bass they caught. I participated in it and used only American lures, of course. Bravely fighting against an army of excellent Japanese lures, I won third prize with a fish of 75 cm (30 in.) long. 

（昨年の今頃、日本のルアーとアメリカのルアーとの間で、熾烈な戦いが繰り広げられました。大手釣具チェーンの一つ「かめや釣具」のいくつかの支店が「シーバス・パーティー」というイベントを共同で開催したのです。それは、一夜のみの釣りの競技会であり、ルアー釣り師たちが、自分の釣ったスズキの全長を競ったのでした。私も出場し、もちろん、アメリカのルアーのみを使用しました。優秀な日本製ルアーの軍団に勇敢に立ち向かった私は、75センチの魚を釣り、三位に入賞したのです。）
Apparently the same contest will be held again this year from April 16 to 17 under a bit different title, “Kameya Sea Bass Battle (KSB).” I just paid the entry fee, 1,500 yen, at one of the branches. With a 12-inch pink Slug-Go, my secret weapon for this year, and other big American lures, I aim at the first place this year. （来る４月16日から17日にかけて、どうやら同じ内容の競技会が、今年は「かめやシーバス・バトル（KSB）」という少し異なる名称で開催されるようです。私は先ほど、かめや釣具の支店の一つに行き、参加費の1,500円を納めてきたところです。今年の秘密兵器である12インチ（30センチ）のピンク・スラッゴーやその他の巨大なアメリカン・ルアーを使い、狙うのはもちろん優勝です。（昨年の戦いにご関心があれば、以前の投稿のNo.40からNo.43までを御覧ください。））
