(No. 172) No Fish at Lake Shinji (宍道湖にて釣果なし)

Big Japanese sea bass are being caught now at Lake Shinji, but somehow they don’t like my lures. This evening I used American pencil poppers most of the time, which I think are effective at this time of the year, but the fish didn’t hit them. There was a lady who sat on a flight of steps of the bank to see the lake. The rays of the evening sun were so warm and beautiful that I asked her to take pictures of my fishing. She willingly accepted my request. I handed her my iPhone 4S, and accidentally it was at VIDEO mode. Naturally she didn't take pictures but videotaped me. I had to ask her again to take pictures. However, after I came home without catching any fish, I found that the video nicely captured how I use an American pencil popper. I decided to use the video for this post. If you see a guy like the one in the video at Lake Shinji, talk to him. Almost certainly the guy is me. If you talk to me now, you have a chance to get a small gift.

（宍道湖では今、大きなスズキが釣れています。しかしスズキたちは、どういうわけか、私のルアーを好まないのでした。今夕、私はだいたいずっと、アメリカのペンシル・ポッパーを使っていました。一年のこの時期には効果的なルアーだと思っているのですが、魚はヒットしませんでした。土手の階段に腰を下ろし、湖を眺めている女性の姿がありました。夕陽がとても温かく、そして美しかったので、私は彼女に、釣っているところを写真に撮ってくれるよう頼みました。快く引き受けてくれた彼女に、私は自分のiPhone 4Sを手渡したのですが、うっかりビデオ・モードになっていたのです。当然、彼女は私の写真ではなく、ビデオを撮影することになりました。私は再び彼女にお願いし、写真を撮り直してもらいました。ところが、何も釣れないまま帰宅した私がビデオを見てみると、アメリカのペンシル・ポッパーを使う私の姿がうまく捉えられていたのです。私はそのビデオを今回、使うことにしました。ビデオの中の人物に似た男を宍道湖岸で見かけたら、声をかけてみてください。十中八九、その男は私です。今、私と遭遇された方には、ちょっとした贈り物がありますよ。）
