I have not
caught any yellowtail amberjack since I came back to Japan and started using
only American lures in 2014. I really would like to catch the fish with an
American lure. Now they say that the fish have come close to the shore of the
Shimane Peninsula, and indeed some of my friends and acquaintances have already
caught it. So today I woke up at 4 a.m. and went to Sakitaka-hana
in Sanami with eager anticipation. I started fishing about 5 a.m. at the
western tip of the spot. I had a hunch that I would catch the first one today,
but the sea was very quiet. The water was stagnant and there were
few baitfish around. It did not take long for my
anticipation to wither. I started sea bathing, tried to take pictures of a
crab, and then videotaped myself. Sadly, I found much greater pleasure in them
than in fishing. There were two bait fishermen at the spot, and it seemed neither
of them had caught any fish when I left the spot about 10 a.m.
（2014年に帰国してアメリカのルアーだけを使い始めて以来、ヒラマサが釣れたことがありません。私は、アメリカのルアーを使って、なんとかこの魚を釣ってみたいのです。今、島根半島沿岸にヒラマサがやってきたと言われています。たしかに、私の友人知人の何人かが既にこの魚を釣っています。そこで私は今日、期待に胸を膨らませて午前４時に起床し、佐波の先高鼻へと向かいました。その西端で釣りを開始したのは、午前５時頃でした。今日こそ最初のヒラマサが釣れるに違いないという予感がありましたが、海はとても静かでした。水は淀み、ベイトフィッシュ（大きな魚の餌となる小魚）の姿はほとんどありません。私の期待はすぐにしぼんでしまいました。私は海水浴を始め、蟹の写真を撮ろうとし、続いて、自分自身をビデオで撮影してみました。悲しいことに、釣りよりも、それらの方が、ずっと楽しく感じられるのでした。二人のエサ釣り師が釣り場におられましたが、私がそこを離れた午前10時までの間、お二人のどちらにも何も釣れていないようでした。）
