It is already the end of May. The so-called “Konoshiro-pattern” along the shore of Lake Shinji may begin at any time now. It is a short period of time during which huge Japanese sea bass at the lake aggressively chase konosirus punctatus, a relatively bigger baitfish. My big American plugs become more effective during this period than during any others. Because it takes only a few minutes for me to walk from my place to the lake, I often get away from my job and go to the lake with a few plugs. It seems that the pattern has not yet started, but it soon begins for sure.
（既に５月下旬です。宍道湖沿岸でのいわゆる「コノシロ・パターン」は、もういつ始まってもおかしくありません。これは、宍道湖にいる巨大なスズキたちが、コノシロという、比較的大型のベイトフィッシュ（大きな魚の餌となる小魚）を積極的に追いかけ回す短い期間を意味します。私が使うアメリカの大きなプラグが、この期間ほど活躍する時はありません。私の家から湖までは徒歩でほんの数分です。私はしばしば仕事の手を休め、２つ３つのプラグを持って湖に出かけます。今年はまだこのパターンは始まっていないようですが、もうじき始まることは確かです。）
